Find School Calendar

Every date on Find School Calendar comes from an official school district source. Here is exactly how we collect, check and update each calendar.

1. We start with the official source

For every district, we use the calendar published by the school district itself, usually the board-approved calendar on the district’s website. We do not copy dates from other calendar websites, and we never guess dates.

Each district page links to the exact source we used, so you can check the original yourself.

2. We check every date before it goes live

Each holiday, break, staff day, early release and exam date is entered into our system and then checked against the original calendar before the page is published. We also confirm the first and last day of school and how each day is listed by the district.

3. We show what each date means

Not every day off is the same, so we label each one clearly:

  • School closed: a holiday or break when schools are closed
  • No school for students: a staff or teacher work day when students stay home
  • Half day or early release: students attend, but leave early
  • Exams: testing periods listed by the district

4. We update calendars when districts change them

Districts sometimes change their calendars during the year, for example after adding make-up days. We recheck published calendars regularly, and especially before major breaks. When a district releases its next school year calendar, we add it to the same page.

If a district has not published a calendar yet, we say so. You will see “Not released yet” instead of estimated dates.

5. We fix reported errors within 48 hours

If you spot a date that does not match your district’s official calendar, please report it. We check the report against the official source and correct the page within 48 hours.

What our calendars do not include

  • Individual school events, sports schedules or school-specific days, unless the district lists them
  • Weather closures, snow days and other emergency changes announced during the year
  • Private and charter schools, unless they are part of the district calendar

Always confirm with your district

We work hard to keep every page accurate, but the school district is always the final authority on its calendar. Please confirm important dates with your district before booking travel or making plans.
